Conference Best Paper Award

  • Description: To recognize the most outstanding paper in the Proceedings of IROS 2008.
  • Prize: $2,000 and Certificate (prepared by the Organization Committee)
  • Funding: provided by RSJ (Robotics Society of Japan) and SICE (Society of Instrument and Control Engineers)
  • Eligibility: Authors of papers published in the Proceedings and presented at IROS 2008.
  • Procedures
    • Nomination: by the Organization Committee with the following rules: papers must have been nominated at least twice by the reviewers or papers that have a ranking of at least 4.5 twice with other ranking never lower than 4
    • Award Committee (AC): independent of the Organization Committee. A General Chair will be member of the Award Committee as an observer without vote right, in order to provide a logistic help to the AC
    • Chair of the Award Committee: Patrick Rives
    • Selection criteria: Technical merit, originality, potential of application, clarity of written paper. The composition of the AC and its decision rules are available here
  • Presentation: At IROS 2008 Awards Ceremony.

IROS Harashima Award

  • Description: The IROS Harashima Award for innovative Technologies has been established by the IEEE RAS, IEEE IES, RSJ, and SICE. The Harashima Award recognize outstanding contributions of an individual of the IROS community who has pioneered activities in Robtics and Intelligent Systems.
  • Prize: 2000$ and a plaque (prepared by K. Kosuge)
  • Funding: Funding provided by IEEE RAS, IEEE IES, RSJ, and SICE
  • Eligibility: Authors of papers published in the Proceedings and presented at IROS 2008.
